March 19, 2020: Photographic Prose, Part I

A writer in Paris, a photographer in New Orleans, & a worldwide quarantine. This is how art brings us together.

Three weeks ago, photographer

Augusta Sagnelli
& writer Samuél Lopez-Barrantes didn’t know each other. A chance encounter in Paris revealed they shared a vast community of friends in New Orleans.

What better way to support fellow artists than by pushing each other to create? The following is the first in a series of triptychs exploring the relationship between language, photography, & narrative.

For the initial collaboration, Samuél wrote a piece of fiction & sent it to Augusta, whose unique photographic eye reimagined the story off the page.

One morning just a few months ago, Sandra woke up from a dream and forgot how to breathe. It was only for a few seconds, but as she lay there gasping for air, it was enough to change her irrevocably.
