I enjoyed this - even if I've never really understood why people would seek fame, nor feel much empathy for those who have sought it - but I wonder why you have such an axe to grind with hippy tourists?
Such good writing. Really drew me in. IMO you really captured the feel of a rainy Saturday morning sitting in a Parisian cafe. (Btw, no problem with a beer or two at that time.)
Beautiful writing, atmospheric, the characters are so Parisian! I could imagine that terrace on an upslope cobbled street and the tourists on their way up to Montmartre... although you set it in Montparnasse.
