Well, at least you got the first novel out of your way. I read that alot: that the first one is going to be really bad and is only for your drawer, if at all. Mind you, I'm still working on that one, the first one, the one which is just for my drawer.
Hey, you'll know when it's done. And then you'll be done with it. And then you have the second one to write. And so on. And upwards. "Being finished" with a work has come to mean so much more to me than anything else.
I do wonder, though, if my first book should be a novel (I doubt it) or some short stories (I think that's more likely). Yet coming up with short stories sounded easier before I started trying, but I feel like the background work is almost the same. In any case, my best writing actually happens in my journal, I think. I might be similar to Lydia Davis, in that writing in my journal feels so without pressure or restraints that the journal is the only place where I can write free from any pressure (I myself apply).
Beautiful! This love story is like Paris in a lot of ways: as soon as I'm away from it too long, it pulls me back in. Looking forward to checking out your work as well. Cheers from a fellow Parisian wanderer
Ooohh wise move! I was just at a wedding at that same church last week. The bride was from my home state of North Carolina. Go figure. Paris is a nexus for at least something.
Thank you friend. I love to see some b & w photography around here, and with creative writing too? Count me in. Looking forward to also discovering your work

Yes! The same for me. I was married at a church close to Jules Joffrin in an attempt to
tie myself to Paris forever. Thanks for checking out my work too :)

Wow what a small world :) We always visit ND de Clignancourt whenever we visit Paris. I love the streets around that area too.
It's one of the things that make Paris so magical: all of the different variations of neighbourhood to check out
Falling in love through writing. . .Yes! Very happy you'll be posting more of the love story.
Something about Paris seems to cater to the idea ...
Well this was just lovely to read.. thank you for sharing! I look forward to being a regular reader of your Substack :-)
