Beautiful piece to wake up to this Sunday morning. Thank you for the recording! I'm excited to keep following your Substack meetups/writing. Bonne journée!
Sending convivial wishes from the countryside to those artists-in-residence in the big city you’ll be gathering. I’m exactly the sort of ‘hide at home’ “I’m not really a writer” who’d sit in his pyjamas, were there pyjamas to sit in, worrying about socialising! Have the best of times, friends, we love what you’re doing with these evenings.
Samuel, what a joyous thing to have a meeting of fellow substack writers in Paris. The photos are full of happiness and creative energy. Bravo to you all for your commitment to literary community.
Thank you Sandy, it looks like you used to teach in a school very similar to where I was raised (Carolina Friends School), and I'd like to think that the values of community and creativity instilled at such an early age have helped me figure out how to stay in the flow in such a big city
I thought you might be interested in this little "meditation" on friendship/community from Maria Popova's The Marginalian - https://www.themarginalian.org/2022/10/07/henry-miller-creativity-friendship/?mc_cid=f7f308426c&mc_eid=2bf666a920 - Henry Miller on the importance of friendship among creatives, including the excerpt: "How distressing it is to hear young painters talking about dealers, shows, newspaper reviews, rich patrons, and so on. All that comes with time — or will never come. But first one must make friends, create them through one’s work."
Love this quote & espeically Popova's The Marginalian (I remember way back when it was Brain Pickings, it has been one of my favorite places on the Internet). Thanks for the share good sir
Bacharach and David worked musical miracles in the '60s.
They really did. Such simple, deep songwriting.

Merci friend, one of these days you'll have to make it to one in the flesh!
Such great memories of those first meetups. Thank you for organizing them! And see you two tonight! ☺️

Ha. What's to worry about? The drinks are free. There was a jazz band, too. And even troglodytes need to dance.
Haha! Mrs Feasts is the nominated dancer at F+F HQ. We are Human, she is Dancer, to wildly misquote The Killers.
Dance Party TBD. You've got a cornfield after all. Corn Rave. It's been decided.
Keep up the good work!!! Bravo!
Merci friend!

Thank you for bringing all the early Paris Substack writers together! The intimacy of discovery in those first ones was sweet and bangin'.
Twas a time indeed. Thanks for being there as an editor and a friend over the years. Onwards and upwards for the next literary adventures
What a gorgeous rendition, Samuel! Made my morning!
